We believe good coffee should be good for the people who grow it and for the planet. Here’s what that means for the coffee we sell — and what we’re still working on.
Organic farming
All Fabula coffee is USDA Certified Organic. Organic standards restrict the synthetic pesticides and fertilizers that can be used, which is better for the soil, for the water around the farms and for the people who work there.
Small, shade-grown farms
The beans are grown on small, high-elevation farms, mostly in Latin America, many of them shade-grown. Growing coffee under a canopy of trees helps protect habitat for birds and wildlife and keeps soil healthier.
Compostable pods
Our K-Cup compatible pods are paper- and plant-based and plastic-free, so they’re compostable rather than headed for landfill. They’re sealed in airtight pouches to keep the coffee fresh. Composting rules differ by city, so please check your local guidelines.
Coffee bags
Please follow the disposal guidance printed on the bag and your local recycling rules.
Small things that help
- Buy the amount you will drink in two to three weeks, so none goes stale and wasted.
- Choose whole beans and grind just before brewing for the most flavor from every bean.
- Add used coffee grounds to your compost or garden.
